Tradition

Oinkari Dance

The story of this dance came from a group of Basque Americans when they dreamt of having the preservation of dances into their ancient heritage.

Hence, travelled to the Basque Country during the summer in the 1960 and met a group of dancers from the town of San Sebastian and became good friends with the American visitors through rehearsals and festivals occurring during that period.

Because of their love of traditional dance and friendship, Oinkari dance was born.
This dance comprises whirling of flying feet and snapping fingers with thrilling ancient music and shouts in the language of the Pyrenees.

This has resulted crowds in the World’s Fair Exhibitions throughout North American during 1962, 1964, 1971 and 1974. Currently, Oinkari still carries on and bringing the cultural dance.
